Early careers and talent acquisition at Springpod

Why this matters

What shapes who applies

What students are encouraged toward, what parents recognise, and what education systems have historically prioritised, all shape who ends up applying to you.

Gaps surface too late

Skills shortages are increasingly talked about, but awareness of exactly what the gaps are isn't always known, and employer engagement often comes too late to actually shape the pipeline.

Good candidates rule themselves out

The result: some sectors oversubscribed, others undersupplied, and thousands of talented young people ruling themselves out of careers they'd be suited to, simply because they never got a real look at what the job involves.

The fit gets discovered too late

Young people apply, interview, get assessed, and only really learn what the job is like once they're already in it, often too late to discover it isn't the right fit.

Buried in generic applications

Early careers and HR teams are left sifting through hundreds (or thousands) of generic, sometimes AI-written applications from candidates with no real idea what they've applied for.

Educate first, hire later.

Springpod flips the traditional order. It widens your reach rather than narrowing it, opening your opportunities up to young people your usual channels would never find. That could mean specifically reaching young people who are NEET, targeting the demographics your industry is currently missing, or focusing on particular genders, regions or backgrounds where representation falls short.

✓ A better-informed match from the outset

✓ Measurably reduced attrition

✓ A pipeline of candidates who've already chosen you, understood your business, and shown they can do the work, before you ever see a CV

Your problems and how we solve them

Volume without quality
Reaching (and proving you have reached) the right people
Smaller hiring teams, with no one to spare for another programme
Widening access, not just reach
Addressing the skills gap

Trusted by early careers teams like yours

What's stood out for us is how many young people finish the programme able to picture a career in hospitality, plenty who'd never really considered it before. Being able to reach the people who need it most, not just the ones who'd have found their way anyway, is what makes this partnership feel different to us."

FAQs

How much time will my team need to commit?
Very little. Once your Virtual Work Experience programme is live, Springpod handles delivery, promotion, student engagement and task completion tracking. There is no day-to-day management required from your team.
Can we target specific regions, schools or demographics?
Yes. You can see exactly which regions and demographics your programme is reaching (or if you have Boost+ you can target specific regions).
How is this different to traditional work experience or open days?
We do not aim to replace in-person work experience. In fact, many of our customers use a Springpod experience as a direct feeder into their in-person programmes. Virtual work experience is accessible to far more young people, anywhere and at any time, and every interaction is tracked, so you get real data on reach and engagement rather than a one-off event with limited visibility.
What do young people actually get out of it?
A genuine, hands-on insight into your industry and organisation, a certificate to evidence it, access to your employer network through the student portal, and the confidence to make an informed choice about their next step, whether that's with you or elsewhere.
How do we measure the impact and ROI?
You get reporting on reach, engagement, completion and demographics, delivered through quarterly and annual reports from your account manager, plus a live dashboard for real-time detail. We're also able to give you your social return on investment number, using a TOMs-aligned framework for economic social value. You can calculate estimated impact using our free tool.
Can the programme be tailored to our roles and business?
Yes, this is our standard approach. Every programme is thoughtfully designed to reflect your organisation, roles and culture.
How long does a virtual programme take to build?
Springpod uses a mixture of technologies, our experienced team and our expertly honed process to get a draft of the programme to you in as little as days. The exact timing depends on the scope of your project, but we're usually able to share drafts within days.

Social impact through Springpod

Why this matters

Youth unemployment is at its highest since 2014

Almost a million young people in the UK are currently NEET — the highest level of youth unemployment since 2014.

Experience is the single biggest barrier

Two in three young people say a lack of real work experience is the single biggest barrier stopping them from making an informed decision about their future.

Opportunity too often depends on who you know

Work experience is too often limited to who you know or where you live.

44% of UK businesses report skills gaps

Many young people don't feel they have the digital or employability skills to close them.

Springpod extends your reach

Into underserved communities, with economic social value generated against a TOMs-aligned framework.

Evidence built for bids and tenders

Dashboards and benchmarking support bids and tenders, backed by evidence that's both qualitative and quantitative.

Your problems and how we solve them

Claiming impact is easy. Proving it is not.
Reaching young people who are genuinely underserved

Vistry Impact Report

In one year, Vistry's Virtual Work Experience programme reached 1,685 young people across 426 schools, generating £781,922 in social value, while reaching well beyond the industry's current workforce (19.70% female participants against Vistry's 14.6% female employee base, plus over 30% eligible for free school meals). A third of tracked leavers have already gone on to construction-related roles.

FAQs

How is the social value figure actually calculated?
We use a combined GIST and Social Value Portal methodology, benchmarked against recognised proxy values and adjusted conservatively, so the figures are defensible, not inflated.
Can we get our own SROI number?
Yes. Every partner gets a partner-level breakdown: learners reached, investment, social value generated and your own SROI ratio.
Does this replace our existing outreach or CSR activity?
No. Springpod runs alongside whatever you already do, extending your reach rather than replacing it and feeding directly into your in-person goals.
How much resource does our team need to commit?
Very little. Once your career experience is live, Springpod handles delivery, promotion and tracking, so your team gets the impact story without the day-to-day admin.
Can we track what happens to young people after the programme?
Where data allows, yes, through your Impact Report, showing real destination outcomes like university courses or first roles.
Can I get a sense of what my SROI would be before I talk to the team?
We have multiple ways to support your social impact goals, so it really varies on the sort of experience you want to offer students.

Employer brand building with Springpod

Why this matters

Young people form opinions about who they'd want to work for years before they ever apply, often based on assumptions rather than what your organisation is actually like. Springpod gives you a controlled, authentic way to put the reality in front of the young people who matter most, on your own terms.

Your problems and how we solve them

Generic content that doesn't show what it's really like to work here
Struggling to cut through in a crowded market for attention
No real way to prove the brand campaign actually landed
A bad hiring experience can cost you customers, not just candidates

Trusted by employers building their brand with Springpod

At TUI, we believe careers should feel full of possibility, and our partnership with Springpod has helped us share that message with an incredible 10,380 young people! Reaching young people on this scale gives us a powerful way to build awareness of our industry, connect with emerging talent and show that there are so many different routes to building an exciting career in travel and aviation."

FAQs

Can we control exactly what young people see of our brand?
Yes. Every simulation is validated by your own team before it goes live.
How do we know if this actually shifted brand perception?
You get engagement data and measurable shifts in awareness and interest, not just impressions.
